Wow! That’s all I can say after the truly magnificent Flame 2 celebration at Wembley on 7 March. It’s very rare to have the opportunity to welcome several thousand young people into our Diocese for a single, joyful purpose, but that’s what happened at Wembley. The Westminster Youth Ministry team had worked tirelessly for the weeks leading up to the event, distributing tickets and t shirts and to have close to 1,100 young people in the arena bedecked in Westminster ‘RED’ was a real testimony to how we witness our faith and how proud we all are of our Diocese. Well done everyone!
SPEC took a leading role in the Flame front of house and it was personally a proud moment for me to have my ticket checked by my daughter – thankfully Frances let me in!
The CYMFED team pulled it off again; Flame 1 was fantastic and Flame 2 was stunning. They keep raising the bar for themselves – they should be very proud of their efforts.
It’s clear that our young people love to celebrate with their peer group and be faithfully led by terrific and inspiring clergy; so attention must surely turn to World Youth Day Krakow 2016. Several million young people come together from across the globe to celebrate together with Pope Francis, and this time it’s on our doorstep!
The Westminster group is heading for the Diocese of Lodz for Mission Week and then to Krakow for World Youth Day – the details of the Pilgrimage are here and you can contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you’d like more information or would prefer the team to call in to speak with your parish.
Don’t miss out!
