As we come into the new year, it’s exciting to announce the next stage of our Summit programme! The Summit has for just over a year now been running on a termly basis in central London as a free celebration for young Catholics, from confirmation age to sixth form. Numbers have steadily grown and last term we began making plans to begin starting the Summit on a deanery level.
A successful first run!
These came to fruition just before the Christmas holiday when we held our first deanery Summit, up at St Josephs in Stevenage. We had a fantastic turn out of around 60 people from across the deanery. The evening consists of a free shared meal, some icebreaker activities, contemporary worship music, personal testimony and Eucharistic adoration. We’ve had very positive feedback from participants and the aim is to hold the evening as an annual event in both Stevenage deanery and eventually all the deaneries of the diocese. The evening has been designed to be a great first step for those looking to find out more about their faith and serves as a fantastic platform to signpost young people to both future events and ways they can help out in their parish.
We now look forward to the exciting task of bringing the Summit to the south, west and east of the diocese and steadily creating an annual calendar of Summit evenings in towns and parishes near you! The Summit will continue to run in Central every term at St Aloysius, next to Euston station, and if you think you or someone you know would like to come along, our next evening is 9 February, 7-9pm.
