‘Young Adults in the West’ will be celebrated on Sunday 5 October at Ealing Abbey. The popular event will begin with Mass in the Abbey Church of Ealing at 7pm celebrated by West London Episcopal Vicar Fr Chris Vipers.
Young Adults in the West is an on-going programme for young Catholics in the western area of the Diocese of Westminster. It was started by former Auxiliary Bishop Alan Hopes and has been continued through the support of Westminster Youth Ministry and the many parishes that have hosted the event in recent years.
Fr Chris invites all young people from West London parishes to join this special celebration at Ealing: ‘We want to explore and celebrate just what our faith means to us, what it means to be a young Catholic in London and how we can rise to the challenge from Pope Francis to be missionary disciples.’
The event includes the celebration of Mass, followed by refreshments, socialising and faith-sharing. There are opportunities to meet other young Catholics, mix informally and also to give a witness and feel encouraged in our faith. There will be a chance to speak to the Episcopal Vicar about the Church and the many positive aspects of its life that are evident today. Diocesan Youth Chaplain Fr David Reilly says, ‘So many people have found it really helpful to have a joyful and relaxed opportunity to meet others like this, to chat and share about their experiences, to make new friends in a faith-filled environment. I really encourage young Catholics from West London to come and take part.’
Fr David adds, ‘We are grateful to Father Abbot and everyone at Ealing for hosting this special celebration – particularly the young adults’ group. Ealing Abbey, with its distinctive Benedictine character, is a wonderful parish with a huge number of parishioners. We’re all really looking forward to being with Fr Chris and the young adults in this very special place. Please join us.’
The Abbey Church is situated on Charlbury Grove, Ealing, W5 2DZ. The nearest underground stations are Ealing Broadway (Central and District Lines, plus trains from Paddington and Heathrow) and Ealing Common (Piccadilly).
