Celebrating the Bi-Centenary of Don Bosco’s Birth

This April, join in the celebrations of the great saint of the youth – Don Bosco! His bi-centenary is coming up!

Living and sharing his vision

For all of us birthdays are special moments, but not many birthdays stay special after we have died. Don Bosco was born on 16 August 1815 and 200 years on, his inspiration, ethos and guiding principles are as relevant as ever.Layout 1

He was born in a small village in Northern Italy to a simple farming family and during his lifetime he founded a religious order and a family of like-minded individuals that are now truly worldwide: active in 132 countries with the Salesians being one of the largest international orders.

Many people achieve great things in life but it is not for many that the spirit of that achievement lives on; this is certainly not the case for Don Bosco, as the spread of his movement across the world so remarkably shows.

The Bi-Centenary EXPO, which is coming to Westminster in April, is a unique experience offered by the Salesians of Great Britain allowing you:

  • to be impressed as you learn from Don Bosco’s life and spirituality through the powerful performance of an original and specially commissioned piece of theatre called Don Bosco – ‘A Magic Saint!’
  • to be inspired as you reflect on the theme ‘Vision of Life’ presented in the photo exhibition by Salesian Link
  • to be encouraged as you pray in thanksgiving for the great gift of Don Bosco to the Church and to young people

Life is full of many good things and young people in particular bring so much energy, enthusiasm and hope to our Church and to society. Following the example of Don Bosco, we celebrate and give thanks to God for them.

We look forward to seeing you!!
