About the event

The SPEC Retreat Centre is excited to present a new online Confirmation retreat, in partnership with Caritas.

What is ‘Your Kingdom Come’?

Your Kingdom Come is a retreat designed to introduce Confirmation groups to closer intimacy with the person of Christ through the invitation to His Kingdom – an upside-down world-order, ruled by God’s perfect, sacrificial love. The vision of God’s Kingdom surprises and entices in equal measure, encouraging each of us to pick up our cross and follow Him, so that we can truly say “your Kingdom come, your will be done”.

The day (10am – 4pm) will be split between talks, shared testimony, and small-group reflection, culminating in the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament with a guided meditation. Caritas staff will also speak about how intimacy with Christ inspires Catholic social teaching, presenting the opportunity for young people to get involved with social action projects in the Diocese.

Why choose ‘Your Kingdom Come’?

We learn from the Catechism that preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation “should aim at leading the Christian toward a more intimate union with Christ and a more lively familiarity with the Holy Spirit […] in order to be more capable of assuming the apostolic responsibilities of Christian life” (CCC 1309). ‘Your Kingdom Come’ seeks this objective directly: communicating how closer personal intimacy with our Creator naturally leads to action.

Our committed team of young adults lead the retreats in a way that is relatable to young people and offer personal testimony of their relationship with Christ that is engaging and inspiring. We are flexible and responsive to the needs of the particular group, tailoring the retreat experience to your requirements, in order to meet your young people where they are. Central to our ethos is a desire to connect young people with the resources on offer to them through their parish and through the Diocese.

To that end, the retreat concludes with a “What’s Next?” session, in which we identify key opportunities available for the young people to be more integrated with the Catholic community.
