About the event

Westminster Youth Ministry is going to Lisbon from Wednesday 26th July to Wednesday 9th August 2023 to celebrate World Youth Day with 2 million other young people!

Please be aware that World Youth Day requires some physical and mental robustness; long coach journeys; large crowds, and several miles of walking on some days. Everyone is very welcome to come – but do be aware of the demands of the trip.

The full cost of the trip will be around £1700 with the breakdown as follows:

Deposit: £100 upon completion of the booking form (non-refundable)
1st Payment: ca. £450 by 28th February 2023
2nd Payment: ca. £500 by 30th April 2023
3rd Payment: ca. £650 by 30th June 2023

We would advise speaking to your parish to see if they would be willing to sponsor you for the whole or some of the amount. Please indicate if they are willing to do so on the relevant section.

FAQs

Is there a one-week option?

No, for this World Youth Day we are only offering a two-week option. This is mainly due to the cost of the travel to Portugal and accommodation for World Youths Day making little financial difference between going for one or two weeks. Other Dioceses and organisations are going for one-week so you may wish to contact them. 

Are there any bursaries to help with the cost?

Westminster Youth Ministry itself is not providing bursaries, in previous years young people have participated in fundraising events and some parishes have offered financial support.

Do I have to share a room?

Yes, all the pilgrims will be in two or three bed rooms. We will ensure that you are with people of the same sex and a similar age.

Can I fly instead of the coach?

No, for this World Youth Day we are only offering the option of a coach due to the cost of flights and travel whilst we are there.

What if I am older than 35 years but would still like to attend?

Our mission is to provide and minister to people 18-35 years, so they will be given priority but still get in touch and we will see what we can do.

What if I am younger than 18 years but would still like to attend?

For this pilgrimage we are only taking those who will be 18 by 25 July 2023. World Youth Day happens every few years so there will definitely be an opportunity for you to go in the future!
